The Breakwater Half-Pint Candle

The breakwater runs straight out into the sea, a long path of stone with water on both sides. The air smells of salt and wind and the dark wood of boats in the harbor. The only sounds are gulls, and the wind buffeting steady waves against the rock. Somewhere behind you, the tide is already turning, and the spaces between the rocks are beginning to fill.
